What is the "Reason for the Season"? Of course we say Jesus, but do we truly understand what happened that night in Bethlehem?

pointsettia

Throughout the Old Testament are numerous accounts of God delivering his children and fulfilling many promises. However, in time, God manifested another tangible gift to show his love.

"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us..."

The person of Jesus Christ.

God BECAME Love for his people! 1 John 4:8 & 16 Proclaim, "...God IS Love."

A baby wasn't born that day - LOVE was delivered to men.

God now poses this question to you, "Who can YOU BECOME Love for?"

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." John 13:34
When God became love for us, it was to fulfill his children's need. What is our need? A Savior - a way out of our sin. According to the Law, the only way was through the sacrifice of a perfect creature. God became our "spotless lamb."

the lamb of god in the heaven.ceiling of the vatican embassy in sofia.bulgaria.

So in becoming love for someone, we need to understand that he did more than just say, "I love you" and more than give to the poor or do a kind deed. He sacrificed his position and comfort in Heaven, as well as on earth to become a servant, even unto death!

Serving is allowing ourselves - through sacrifice - to BECOME love for someone - meeting their need.

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Phil 4:19

How does he choose to meet the needs of his children?

" Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful." Titus 3:14

How will we KNOW what their "need" is and how to meet it in "Love"? The same way Jesus did.... by the inspiration and direction of the Holy Spirit.

"Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."

God meets needs!

The Bible tells us that apart from God we can do nothing! Even love someone like they need to be loved!

I challenge you to allow the leading of the Holy Spirit to transform you into the Love of God for your fellow man this season and throughout the New Millennium!
